...but the cat tends to treat me more like staff than does the dog! The dog seems me as more a catering service for treats, meals and bowls of ice water served in the kitchen! The cat expects room service brought to his bed. (His bed = what I believe to be the queen size bed in the master bedroom and which I had thought to be mine.)

I pay hell getting both the cat and the dog out of my bed when the weather in SoCal dips below 65!

I feed them at 4 every afternoon and if anyone tells you dogs can't tell time, I'll introduce them to mine. They know 3:59.

stepping on your feet was painful but turning to sit on your feet was just immobilizing.

They are not violating personal space. They are sharing their personal space with you very very closely.

I remember laying on the couch after my first knee surgery in a fair amount of pain. My mom's dog wanted to cheer me up, so all 100 lbs of him jumped up on the couch onto my lap (and torso and legs), got yelled and and thrown off and then he was so hurt I had to apologize to him.

The next time I had knee surgery, he also had surgery and we got to lay next to each other and whimper for mom to bring us pain medicine and food.
