POPCORN stuffing for your turkey

[IMG][/IMG]

I lived in the D.C. area for awhile and two radio announcers, Hardin and Weaver, had a A.M. early hour show. Each year they would give their classic POPCORN stuffing .

Take a turkey and pour a jar of unpopped popcorn into its cavity followed by a stick of butter. Sew up the opening . Put into a hot oven and place turkey in oven with its back end facing the oven door.
When the popcorn pops and the turkey ass blows out the oven door - Ta da - the turkey is done.

Here is a more detailed recipe:

10-15 lb. turkey

2 cup melted butter

2 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good.)

2 cup uncooked popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER’S LOW FAT…..of course)

Salt/pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.

Listen for the popping sounds.

When the turkey’s ass blows the oven door open and the turkey flies across the room, it’s done.

I grew popcorn this year. Maybe I should stick in a whole cob of it. LiberalEsto Nov 2015 #1

However, there are special security restrictions on flights in the DC area, so it's probably not a good idea.
