Do you think hank and Steve had to die? Besides maybe Gale, they were the only good guys to bite the dust (literally in their case) could Gilligan have worked around that?

Hank was a fascinating character. At first he was offensive and somewhat a bit of comic relief. Gradually he became a better DEA agent and not so much an occasional buffoon. But he really had to suffer along the way. The fact that he died trying to take Walt down helped make BB one of the greatest shows ever.

(36,392 posts)Captain Ahab to Walt's Moby dick. His comic scenes were great too (his last meeting with hector). You're probably right about his murder forcing the epic final scene.
