Happy Thanksgiving to the Lounge

I am trying really hard not to get suckered into a huge deal this year. I have been complaining for years that I am tired of doing these big production meals but then I do it anyway. I will roast a small turkey but I am not doing all the sides today. Not even pie.

Might do some of them over the next few days but my kitchen is a disaster and the husband just had a double surgery on top of the finger emergency a few weeks ago. I am getting over a nasty cough/cold thing, and you know? I just don't feel like it!

So I am going to just throw the fucking turkey in the oven (

) and open some wine. Maybe go for a drive around the ranch with the dogs and take it easy for once.

I am grateful for the rain we have had this year - including almost another inch over night - for the health of my kids, the just-in-time help of Obama care to assist in the health issues of myself and my husband, the prices of cattle the last couple years (even though it translates to high meat prices at the store, steak being a very rare treat lately LOL), for (some of) my neighbors, friends (on-line and in real life), and family. Especially my youngest sister.

Still sprinkling here. Just me and Jeannie this year. And not a whole turkey, just a breast. I offered to help twice
and was told that the best help I could give was to stay out of the way. I've got the nasty cough thing going too.
Sorry to hear about your husband--hope all is well with the recovery.
So about your cattle--how do you sell them? Whole? butchered? sides? I might be interested in some good range fed
beef.

I have sold individual live animals to people, and sometimes to others that do resell as meat. I am not into the promotion or hanging around farmers markets so we have never got into meat sales in any serious way. Send a PM if you want more info on buying live or maybe splitting a beef sometime. Right now my freezer is in serious need of cleaning out and I don't have room to do anything but maybe in a few months.

For smaller amounts I suggest 47 Ranch/Sky Island beef in your area, Dennis and Deb Moroney - I know for sure they sell at the Bisbee Farmers market and pretty sure they are at Sierra Vista as well. In Tucson, Double Check is a ranch of some friends and they sell chicken too.

i had dim sum w some friends. the kids are all w the ex.

the big dinner was always a family affair. i have a big kitchen, designed to hold many cooks. it is a joy to see it humming.
but not this time. prolly not for xmess either.
once all the legal bs is finished, i intend to fill up my big house w family of choice. the home for wayward old ladies.
it'll hum again one day.

in the meantime, i am trying to enjoy the peace and quiet.
fortunately none of the critters know it is supposed to be a big day.
just another day of lounging on the bed while mom surfs the web, and hangs at du.

enjoy your turkey.
