Look, all year long, you play with your kitty with shiny, dangling things. Now, you bring home this big tree filled with shiny, dangling things, but you won't let your cat play with it.
You're sending poor kitty mixed messages!

(12,647 posts)They'd sniff it, then go about their business (I hung all the bells and jinglies up high). I got so complacent that for the last three years, I've put up great-grandma's antique glass ornaments - only one got broken, and that was because the then 3-year-old grand-daughter just had to try to take it off the tree.
However, this summer, we ended up fostering a kitten who had been separated from her mommy too soon. It was only going to be temporary...but the Princess (a cranky old pixie-bob) decided Goblin was her kitten, and that was that. She's dog-like, an active climber and carries the affectionate nick-name of Crazy-eyes.
I'm not putting any breakables up on the tree this year.

(22,271 posts)I very laboriously set it up on the table, with the skirt, various Christmas decorations around it until it looks JUST right. One of my cats, Erica, will then go over and proceed to rearrange. The first time she did it I very laboriously re-did it. Less than 15 minutes later she "re-decorated" it again. After that, I left it alone and so did she. (This is the same cat that has learned where the on/off button is on the stereo and if she doesn't like the music, turns the stereo to "off" all by her little furry self.)

What an interesting cat it is! Seeing this picture, I can't help thanking and praising God's wisdom, because God created such a lovely animal!

(3,275 posts)He would watch intently as I put it up. As soon as it was up, he and my roommate's cat would go under it and lay there purring. They would stare up at the lights and the ornaments but they wouldn't disturb anything. They just liked being there. They would spend a lot of time under the tree. They really liked it when I would put the presents under the tree because they could hide behind them.
