Plimsoll Day Plimsoll Day is to dedicated to the memory of Samuel Plimsoll, a member of the English Parliament who championed sailors safety while traveling the worlds waterways in crammed ships. He was instrumental in the amendment of Britains Merchant Shipping Act, which came about in response to the then national problem of dangerously overloaded ships. Plimsolls bill, named the Unseaworthy Ships Bill, was passed in 1876, and required that a mark be present on a ships hull to indicate the waterline at which maximum cargo capacity was reached for the vessel. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/plimsoll-day/

I never use one.

(16,334 posts)3. Sometimes I walk around with wet hair...
so umbrellas are a waste of time for me too. Rain coats are too hot for me so I don't wear one. I am rarely out in a complete downpour so a little rain is just nothing to me now.

And also on the unjust fella;
But chiefly on the just, because
The unjust hath the justs umbrella."

If you are dead, or undead, you will want to stay in your grave today. Common accessories for the living are shotguns and chainsaws today.
