When the Beatles broke up, all four of them were still under 30. And what have you done with YOUR life? Okay, I outlived Jerry Garcia, so I got that going for me.

When he was 10 or so, he asked me, in all seriousness... "Mom, were you alive when the Beatles came to America??"

A world without the Beatles was apparently unimaginable to him.

Mike McCartney had a brief recording career as Mike McGear. One of his songs, "Norton," was on a Warner Bros. promotional album called "The Force," which featured a number of artists under contract to Warner Bros. Double album you could mail order for two bucks.

Damn, I'm old.

Stu Sutcliffe, who was the Beatles's style leader at the time, adopted the bangs when they were in Germany at the instigation of his g/f Astrid Kirchherr. Then when John and Paul went to Paris in '61, Astrid's friend Jurgen Vollmer, who was hosting them, gave them the same style cut. George adopted it when they returned to Liverpool; Pete Best refused to go along with the group (typical of him).
