The Velveteen Ocelot
(130,382 posts)I'm not Queen of the Night caliber (hardly anybody is). And I'm too old anyhow - but it's fun to dream.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)I do not believe for a second that there is no venue for you to pursue that dream.

(60,156 posts)I would go for fire lookout jobs in the mountains, and be perfectly happy with the isolation.
Back when I was of an age to do it, it was not seen as a woman's job.

(34,884 posts)I prefer the solitude. And, after seeing a lot of the photos DemoTex has posted over the years, I would still love to do it.

(102,386 posts)and has become more like being a greeter at wallyworld but expected to know everything. It's a sad state of affairs for the parks lately. It was a dream job for me too but after a couple years, not anymore... I don't know if I can bear to even go back into the park anymore.
If you do go into the Service, pick a small park to work at, the big ones are no fun anymore... too many people and only a few have any respect for the parks.

(20,176 posts)That's literally my dream job.
I believe strongly in the principles of smart growth, the need for a focus on domestic infrastructure and transit-oriented development as a spending priority, and...well...my skill-set in NPO management lends itself to being a Comm. D. I've been both a Comm D. and an Exec. D...the second one is not really a fit for me; I don't lead well or comfortably and I enjoy the work less than being the communications person.
