Ex-Homeless Man Gives $10K to High School After 2 Teens Buy Him Ticket Home
A former homeless mans $10,000 gift will inspire and reward random acts of kindness for years to come, thanks to two Illinois teens.
The generosity and compassion shown to Wade Herter by a pair of high school boys was never forgotten. Herter was a homeless drifter, freezing and alone in a blizzard three years ago when the two seniors helped him.
Ryan Kodat and Luke Arnold found him some warm clothes and a jacket and purchased a train ticket that would let him see his father. They never expected anything in return, but Herter has always wanted to do something special to thank them.

The 28-year-old from Mount Pleasant, Texas, was paralyzed in a motocross accident in 2009. Seven years after, on March 12, he not only shared a wedding dance with his new wife Misti Richeson, but he was also able to spin his new bride while Dylan Scott's "Thinking Out Loud" played.

This 11-year-old girl has turned her grandmothers flaxseed lemonade recipe into a national businessand she is donating ten percent of the proceeds to saving honey bees.
Mikaila Ulmer became an expert on bees after getting stung twice in a week. Her mother suggested that researching the insects might help conquer her overly-developed fear of them.
When she learned about the plight of bee populations that were dying from colony collapse disorder, and the danger it posed to our food chain, Mikaila had to do something to help them.

(62,448 posts)We have been frequenting a small Mexican restaurant in our town for a couple years as we try to stay vegan. they have created a very delicious vegan salad just for us.
At Christmas time it looked like the owner was going to retire and close the place down. The building needed some work and they were getting older.
While we were really going to miss the food, we were more worried about the young waitress who worked there. She is a neighbor about 22 and just as sweet as can be.
The place reopened in late January. Our favorite waitress was there to greet us again, but she seemed different. I noticed that there was a sign saying the liquor license was being applied for. So I said to her - well, you either lost the license or this place has a new owner. She smiled as big as a smile is possible and proudly told us that yes - there was a new owner and that was her.
So she is about 2.5 months into being a business owner and she is still walking on air. The previous owner was a friend as well as her boss. Therefore the previous owner made the fixes to the building. Monica, the new owner, has made some small changes and business seems to be excellent.
We are so happy for her. She has been married for a couple years and her husband has been having trouble finding work. Their parents are immigrants. So all in all this is looking like the American Dream playing out in a small midwestern town.
Happy birthday - hope that is the kind of story you were looking for.

I really admire vegans!!
I'm 98% vegetarian, used to be 100% for many years till health issue kicked in. I have such high esteem for vegans, it's like being an ethical politician in a way, a tougher road but immeasurably valuable.
