He was obviously a hero and you have a lot to be proud of. You're very fortunate to have them.

I have my grandfather's discharge papers from WWI, apparently he was a very good horseman. I never had the chance to meet him since he died suddenly when my Dad was only 12. I wish I knew more since anyone who knew him had such fond memories of him. My Dad's cousin called me just before Veterans' Day since he planned on writing an article for the newspaper about his Dad and my grandfather, brothers who joined up together, so I was able to learn a little more...

One of my favorite items is his mess kit in which he carved the names of all the towns in France where he stayed.

I also have my G-G grandfather's civil war officer's sword.

My Grandmother recently found an old picture in one of my dearly beloved late Grandfathers' travel trunks.
It was an aerial shot of 100's service men stationed at........wait for it......Pearl Harbor. How cool is THAT?
