I like the old optimistic Star Trek. Judging by the last movies, I'm prepared to be disappointed. hunter Jun 2016 #2

Some of the fan-produced movies are good. That's the standard I'm holding this to.

I don't want to see early twenty first century characters dealing with early 21st century problems in a Star Trek universe.

The Star Trek characters were supposed to represent humanity's better future. The humans of the Star Trek universe were not racist, the aliens were. These aliens, of course, represented the human twentieth century.

The Original Star Trek didn't quite pull it off, there were no openly LGBT characters and some of the women wore uniforms that made them look like 'sixties airline stewardesses, but they did remarkably well for the time.

Didn't even know what 'Star Trek' was, mom was standing outside the theater begging me to finally choose something to watch, and I chose this movie basically because I liked the poster...
