(111,078 posts)There are complexities in our lives that are sometimes not easily explained. It delves a little into Buddhism and untold stories of Vietnam and the struggles of a non-combat soldier to re-adapt to society. It explains in detail the difficulty in escaping deep poverty, but in an interesting way, I hope.

(24,556 posts)and I love to read accounts set in the area. I am also from the Vietnam War era and appreciate learning more about how that impacted the lives of the males (and female non-combatants) of that time. While I normally refuse to buy new books because I pick up plenty of used ones, I think I will have to make an exception here. I will let you know what I think about it!

(155 posts)My husband was raised in a coal camp in WV and has told me about his experiences. I am looking forward to reading this.

(9,726 posts)But I have always been very thankful that there is no coal in the mountains of north Georgia. They remain relatively unspoiled, and constitute one of the prettiest places no one has ever heard of (except for "Deliverance," of course).

(10,857 posts)Can you please give me some advice about your publishing experience?
Did you format the book yourself? Does it have illustrations, and did they translate properly?
Did you go Amazon-only, or are you also selling it through Ingram or your own website?
Are your sales primarily electronic or paper?
Thanks so much! I'm just about to pull the trigger on a thing myself and I have a lot of tough decisions to make now.

(111,078 posts)I am only on Amazon but the more options you have, the more books you can probably sell.
You can look at all your pages individually and make changes before you decide to publish, if you wish. You can make the "edits" yourself or hire them to do it for you.
They will put it on Kindle for you, also. It may take a few weeks longer but they put it into the European market also.
I would recommend Amazon if you want to self-publish. They do it under their web page called "Create Space".
And they are very helpful with any questions you might have.
Yes, you can format the book yourself and then have the option of looking at your work before you publish.
