Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSince we've been talking mattresses....I went to a Sleep Number store last night...
Wanted to check them out, as I need to replace my futon from 1997 which is simply a torture device at this point.
Wow! They felt like heaven!! Everything from their basic C2 to the X12...every one felt like a place I could stay happily forever!
But, yikes!
Their prices!!
I just don't know about buying a bed for the price I usually purchase a car.....
I just don't see it happening.
But, if you ever want to try them out, it's a super comfy hour to spend, if you've got nothing else to do!

(5,064 posts)But not the Sleep Number prices.
I sleep on a Comfortaire (which was the original company before Sleep Number split off), and love it.
I have friends who have "Sleep Number equivalents" that love them.
The technology is not rocket science; it's just air bladders with variable firmness. And memory foam on top. They're great because they never sag (no springs), and also don't have to be turned. They're also lighter, making changing the sheets easier.
Sleep Number has to pay for all that marketing. But they're not unique.

(5,064 posts)A bit pricey compared to a spring mattress, but OTOH they last about 20 years.
