Should the way you know a gift was received is the check clearing

I must be getting old and cranky, but I sent four checks out for graduations for parties we were unable to attend and haven't received any acknowledgment. The checks all cleared though. What ever happened to manners????😠

let him cash it until he sent a thanks you note. It is important to teach children good manners.
