Spoiler alert - this is what was in the letter Sansa wrote last episode. Don't read if you don't want a potential surprise down the road.

5. The Broken Men speech

this was from the Book "A Feast for Crows" - it was told by Septon Meribald to Brienne. In the episode last week, while Ian McShane's character was unnamed, he was essentially the same character. Unfortunately, this great speech didn't make it into the show, when they had Ian McShane there to read it!

12. Titles usually have more than one meaning

last week - the Broken Man - could be Theon, could be Jamie, could be The Hound, or could be the nameless Septon played by Ian McShane.

we know Arya is "no one", but who else or what else could it be?

Heir to House Tully. Younger brother of both Catelyn and Lysa.
Hot headed, ineffectual for the most part - but he does do something good and he'll do it soon. Well, in the books he does...in the show? Who knows?

But the wedding turned ugly at the start of the bedding.

Edmure didn't know it was a trap. Nor did Robb or Catelyn. Still, Edmure agreed.

85. WTF was the point of bringing back the great character

if all that was going to happen was his death occurring off-screen?

They could just as easily put this in some exposition--Jaime leaves KL, then comes back & says "Yeah, I got Edmure to screw his uncle over & kill him."

I understand they wanted all their "war" budget for the Battle of the Bastards, but that whole story arc was unnecessary.

UNLESS the Black Fish is in the bottom of Brienne's boat.

89. I know, right? What an excellent idea! (BF in the boat, under cover)

I'm not overly fond of the Blackfish (because of what he says/thinks about Jon in the books) but he was one of the better characters in the book to read about. (of all the people in and about the Trident)

I want to see more of his character on the show. I enjoy the actor (Clive Russell) who portrays him. Also because if someone from House Tully stands in the North, it allows for more people around the Trident to stand against the Freys, Lannisters, etc. It might give them the gumption to stand up against them.

92. I'm also thinking that Edmure is playing a waiting game

see if Jaime lives up to his bargain of getting his son out of Frey hands & then using the Tully forces to pound the Freys into the dirt.

Of course, Edmure is a bit of a dumbass, so it's also probable that his uncle is dead & he's still captive to the Freys.

Tobias Menzies hasn't been seen much in this season's "Outlander," so it's possible that allows him to have a bigger role in this season's GOT.

87. Brienne meeting up with the Hound & the Brothers

tells them what's happening at Winterfell---they all head in that direction & end up being the saviors of the day.

I don't think Arya will be getting back to Westeros in time for the Battle of the Bastards, but she could be hooking up with Yara & Theon, who I suspect will be the ones who defeat the Masters sieging Mereen.

90. Yara (Asha) and Theon could help do just that.

Strange bedfellows and all that, with the forming of alliances.

I don't think Arya would trust Theon. If he told her the truth - that he took over Winterfell and some of her people died, and that he murdered two young boys to take the place of her brothers, Arya might want to see Theon dead. Oh, she'd hate Ramsay more, and she would be glad Theon helped Sansa (in the show) - but Arya is very much her father's daughter. Her reaction, both in the books, and on the show, to Theon might not be pleasant.

If Dondarrion and the Hound do go North together, they both can tell Jon and Sansa what they know about Arya. They could also help Jon and Sansa - Beric would gladly help Jon once he knew Jon was considered the "chosen one". The Hound loved Sansa, and he still might. Well, in the books he seemed to love her.

Gonna be exciting no matter what.

61. I think "Jaqen H'ghar" will allow her to go.

She bested her assassin, for one - fair is fair, and because of their history together.

Also, the Faceless God has his death.

69. And he let her.

Do you think that was an outcome he was hoping for? He seemed a bit surprised.

76. I'm watching again because

Go, Arya!

and I did enjoy the Hound's humor and the other sparrow losing his head.

and I truly enjoyed the Waif dying and losing her face.

77. I'm pretty sure I know what Cersei is planning but I can't help but imagine it'll go badly.

There's no controlling some things.

78. Again, Jaime's loyalty is so misplaced. Cersei, of the books, doesn't love Jaime.

In the book Jaime sees her for what she is - at least a little. More than a little.

I think Jaime needs someone like Brienne but she's far too good for him.

House Tully. Still not convinced Blackfish dies. That look that passes between Edmure and his uncle is saying something - just don't know what exactly.

Jaime allows Brienne and Pod to escape. Archers could reach the boat had he called them.

Edmure would be forever hated for handing his uncle over. It is the same as kinslaying - which is a no no among those Houses still with honor. (which are few right now)

I wonder if it will be Brienne that kills Jaime in the end? (for the show)

As for the books, well....she is around for what very well could be his death. It's currently a question mark. I don't think he dies though, at that point and time - in the books.

If Daenerys and Tyrion and the Unsullied win the battle, they will have ships.

Varys can get more in Westeros. While he's doing other things.

I enjoy the Hound's humor and his current sense of loyalty and right and wrong, but I can't forget what he did to the boy.

He helped Sansa, no denying. He took care of Arya, no denying - but he was Joffrey's willing butcher. I can't forget that.

I much prefer him to his brother, however. If only Oberyn Martell wasn't showboating, the Mountain would be dead already.

I really like Dondarrion. I hope the Hound goes North with Beric and his group. Sansa could use him and he would die for her - and probably will.

I am thrilled the Waif dies. Arya had it all planned out - get chased, go to the spot she hid Needle - kill the Waif. Note how she honors Syrio Forel with the placement of Needle at her forehead - and then lobs off the flame. Arya doesn't need to see to fight.

Her first teacher was the first to teach her that. Fight with your ears. Maybe she wasn't good with a stick, but she's just fine with Needle.

Course, Arya wouldn't kill "Jaqen H'ghar" and I don't it because she couldn't - I think it because of their shared past.

He micro-smiles and nods - he approves.

I adore the Arya character. Should she eventually die I will be crushed.

79. They've made some changes to the Lannisters I'm not too happy with

on the show.

what you mentioned above with Jamie, and then we missed out of the Tyrion/Jamie falling out after Tyrion killed his father where Jamie confesses that Tysha really was a crofter's daughter, so Tyrion had a clean break from his family when he travels across the narrow sea.

83. Yes! I wanted that exchange to be in the show. A clean break, as you say. The more removed Tyrion

is from the name, the better.

There's so much more depth to Tyrion in the books than in the show.

To Jaime, as well.

Cersei is as she is.

84. Yes

that is one of the differences between the show on the books - the characters have more depth in the books, but also have more shades of grey. Tyrion and Dany are mostly good on the show, while book Tyrion had the minstrel that was playing for Shae killed because he was jealous of him. And, while he had some "professional women" in season 1, it's been mostly toned down since.

91. Makes for a cleaner hero, so to speak, for Tyrion's entire character to be downplayed some.

People will cheer his murder of his father, and not count that against him. But they might not cheer him killing some singer for no real good reason.

People also tend to overlook Tyrion's knowledge of Jaime trying to murder Bran. They dismiss his complicity because he is simply being loyal (and people like Tyrion, so it is easier to overlook his transgressions)

Kinda like I can justify almost anything Arya does.

I prefer the shades of grey because most people are a mixture of good and bad, though I have a hard time forgiving certain characters (Theon, for example. Sansa , for another)

80. Anyone else annoyed by the barrage of off-screen fights?

Arya vs. the Waif was somewhat acceptable I suppose, but what about the Blackfish? What about the dragon vs. the Masters' ships? Both scenes were especially lame (unless if we see the ships getting torched in the next episode). Maybe they're saving their budget for a massive Winterfell battle in ep 10?

81. My guess

is that there has not been a battle in Meereen yet - will the dragon be able to torch all those ships before they can land a significant number of troops?

My guess is that Theon and Yara and the Iron Islanders will ambush the ships from the slavers.

The Blackfish may not be dead - maybe he escaped and the soldier feared Jamie's wrath?

The big battle at Winterfell is going to be the next episode, which is entitled The Battle of the Bastards. I'll post a separate thread with a preview.

88. Don't forget there's 2 dragons in the basement

I was screaming at Tyrion & co about that while they wondered how to defend Mereen.

YOU'VE GOT TWO DRAGONS IN THE BASEMENT---OPEN THE DOORS & LET THEM OUT!
