(31,170 posts)happened the first time one of my little dudes was out on his own...I could see him stalking something in the neighbors yard and he finally got the nerve to grab it and come running home to me with it. It was a long tulip leaf. He was soooo proud of himself. A few years later that quest for long skinny things turned into a living grass snake, and he had it by the tail. Not quite as endearing that time.
I had another cat that hunted for voles everyday that I was going through chemo. He was only an occasional hunter before, and after, my treatment. He also brought home live rabbits bigger than he was, and once came in, opened his mouth and a huge bumble bee flopped out. Weird little dude and I miss him a lot.

(23,159 posts)My oldest sister was "her" human. One night we hear this blood-curdling scream from Sis' bedroom--everybody thought she was being murdered. So we all bolt out of bed and converge on her room, only to see her up on the bed dancing like Fred Asaire could only dream of. Cat had brought her a "present", but hadn't taken all the fun out of it yet. It had turned a live mouse loose in her bed; mouse promptly runs under the covers, and up Sis' nightgown! Hence, the dance. Cat sitting on floor, innocently looking up at her human gone berserk, as if to say, "Why can't you just show a little appreciation for my hard work? Sheesh!"
One of the funniest memories of my youth, but for some reason, Sis doesn't laugh when the subject comes up....
