To the Guardians of the Watchtowers of the North: Happy Canadeh?

Yes, I know it's really named Canada Day. And yes, I know you don't end every sentence with "eh", but come on! You've got universal healthcare, gun laws that are actually sane, and a political system that's actually capable of getting shit done. Ya gotta give us some leeway!

On a personal note, I want to thank you for inventing hockey, my favorite sport. I also thank you for William Shatner, Jim Carrey, Dan Ackroyd, Martin Short, and the late, great John Candy.

BUT

In the sweet Blessed name of Cernunnos, take back Justin Bieber and Celine Dion!!!

Some mornings, I take the commuter bus into DC. When I do, I walk across the grounds of the Embassy of Canada on the way to work. I did so yesterday morning. Workers (Canadian: "ouvriers&quot there were putting up huge Canadian flags that would hang from beams up over the plaza by the side of the building. This morning, I took the train, so no cross-Canada journey. I did have a Canadian flag that I bought at a yard sale last year jammed into my backpack.

I still don't think I can make it all the way through a viewing of "Youngblood" on VHS.

After all, Canada gave us Bruce Cockburn:

And for that, we should be eternally grateful.
