(21,119 posts)I mean most people my age (59) remember the Monkees, but I don't think any of them would say they were the greatest band.

(37,748 posts)With his poetic depth reaching that of the seminal single, Disco Duck, and his musical talent on par with the Starland Vocal Band, he'll soon be up there with the Bay City Rollers and the Banana Splits in our memories of deep lyrics, moving melodies and a dedication to his craft.

(107,964 posts)Michael Jackson for all his flaws, at least was a talented musician who produced some great songs like Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, and so on. Decades from now people will still be seeking out Jackson's music going all the way back to Jackson 5, do you think decades from now people will still be listening to Justin Beiber? Hell no!

(41,694 posts)I wouldn't even put them in the top 250. But that's MTV for you-the more you flash and bounce around the better musician you are. Being able to actually PLAY some music doesn't count.

(10,893 posts)one of the hottest of all time because of his album sales, but "greatest" is a different animal. Everyone has a different opinion on what "great" music is. I don't have much against him personally (except that he acts like an idiot sometimes), but I'm no fan of his music at all and strongly prefer MJ over him.

(1 post)First of all Justin Bieber over Michael Jackson is the dumbest thing I ever read. Even worse is there is only one greatest musician of all time and that no doubt was PRINCE. To even think Justin Bieber had more talent then Prince and Micheal Jackson is pure stupidity. Not surprised coming from this news whatever you call it. I call it plain crap.
