Follow up to my toothache........
First I need to thank gnr again. The ample use of Kentucky bourbon swished around the tooth did help immensely. I woke up Saturday the whole left side of my face was swollen. When I tried to smile the left side of my mouth did not move.
I saw the dentist today. He pulled the remaining roots of 2 teeth that had fallen out. He filled a tooth on the right. I will need a partial denture when he's done with the work. He has 2 teeth on the bottom that are loose and he will pull. I am still bleeding from the pulled tooth area, but hopefully it will clot by morning. He used ample amounts of novacaine and I was numb for 4 hours. I see him against next Monday, and he wrote me a script for amoxiciillan.

1. toothaches are the worst.
glad you are taking care of it.
with all the advances in medicine unless you are very rich and can get sedated, dentistry hasn't improved over my lifetime that much. I absolutely hate going now in my late 50s as I did when I was 5 and my mother literally had to drag me screaming and crying. and it's expensive!!!! |

3. I didn't have insurance for about 6 years...........
and was unable to pay to go the dentist. This year I began receiving Medicaid. I chose a Medicaid PPO and dental services are covered at no cost to me. The dentist said the loss of my 2 teeth was due to my Diabetes 2. So I am lucky, if I didn't have dental care included, I would probably lose more teeth.

5. Dental issues are certainly no fun. My best to you as you go through this.
Regular dental care is so important. Even 2-3 professional cleanings a year will go a long way to maintaining good dental health and keeping your teeth.
Just a general Public Service message for everyone. |

6. I'm glad for you
...but in my opinion, dental care has improved a LOT.
I neglected my teeth for a while, and then moved to Florida and started seeing my husband's dentist. Everyone in the office does a great job! I've had extractions and a very complex bone-graft surgery procedure, and most has been pretty pain-free. |

7. Speaking of toothaches, I'm watching Marathon Man
Some of the older folks will get it.

8. "Is it safe?"
Made the mistake of seeing that movie for the first time the night before a dentist visit.

9. I just cringed and slid half out of my chair just at the thought of that scene!
OhMiGOD! that was excruciating just to watch in the theater! I couldn't go to a dentist for four years without thinking of that scene.
