(156,619 posts)You do NOT deserve these rat bastards.
I just don't get it. You work hard, you play by the rules...........and then this sort of crap happens.
I am really sorry.

(15,261 posts)Appeal. Fight for the unemployment benefits Tobin.

(10,420 posts)...but I think I know which way it is going to go.

(19,491 posts)Did they give you any verbal or written disciplinary actions? That's important. What does their policy and procedure manual say about disciplining employees? Did they follow it? Did you get any raises or feedback from your direct report?

(10,420 posts)I was working one day and the next I was fired. I was in a probationary period and they claimed they could let me go without warning because of that. But they never said anything to me until the day I was fired. As far as I knew I was doing a good job. I never knew my job was in jeopardy.

(19,491 posts)Then you won't be denied UI.
You need to have a hearing. Often companies will challenge UI claims but when it comes time to state their case to a hearing officer they don't show up.
Good luck.
Mosby
(19,491 posts)Are not sufficient to deny you UI. It's simply a period where they can term you without cause in a non "right to work" state but it doesn't get them out of paying the unemployment insurance claim.

(23,082 posts)You can appeal it. They can deny you unemployment if you quit or were fired for misbehavior. Being "insubordinate" is somewhat subjective. So I would recommend appealing it, but don't put too much time and energy into it. It doesn't sound like you were there for very long.
Concentrate on moving forward with the next step in your career, whatever that may be.
The best revenge is to live well.

(10,777 posts)They don't want you to get unemployment because it increases their pay-in. "Insubordinate" sounds like a generic excuse to me.
To be honest, the worst thing that could have happened to you would have been to have kept this job and to have wasted years of your life working for those assholes.
I would definitely write the letter to request the reasons you didn't get the second job, though. It's likely that the previous employer screwed you there too.

(47,423 posts)A lot of times the application even has a questionnaire asking if you had been fired. If they found out, that could be a reason why you didn't get a new job.

(4,033 posts)but when I worked in HR, a "conditional" offer of employment, was made when specifics of the job itself had to be made e.g drug test, CDL. We could not have someone attend orientation (which implied full employment) until the specifics were made.
We would offer the "conditional", if the applicant accepted (this gave us an idea of # of employees we would have) we would then do the needed tests or background checks & then have applicant attend orientation. Also the employee must be paid for their time spent in orientation. Were you paid?

(51,308 posts)If your new employee was given that information, they wouldn't be thrilled about it.
No matter how badly a job treats you, always leave with dignity.
You'll find something. Hang in there.

(10,420 posts)Besides, I wasn't cussing at anyone or calling anyone names.
They were having trouble verifying my employment with a company and I didn't find that out until the end of the day yesterday. I think it might have something to do with that. I could have helped them out in that regard if they had asked me.

(82,333 posts)That, or they had something on the owners/managers. They would come in from time to time and act very familiar with the managers. Never trusted them.
Good luck, Tobin. Remember, you only need one job. And you're qualified for several.
