The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI have reached my first weight loss milestone.
I started out having triple digits to lose and I am now down to double digits. Two weeks ago I had 110 to lose. Now I have 97.

(135,425 posts)Boy, I wish dropping some weight were something we could outsource! It just doesn't work that way, sadly.
Well done on your milestone--keep up the good work!
I've battled with this for most of my adult life. I'm 43. Hopefully I'm on the right track now. I'm just keeping my calories below 2000 and exercising when I can. I log everything I eat, too, so I'm sure of where I'm at on my calories all the time.

(10,418 posts)I'm accentuating the positive. There have been so many setbacks for me lately that it started to affect my well being and I was headed down a dark path. I realized I had to look at things from a different perspective or I would soon start to be an actor in my own demise.

(17,252 posts)I think losing weight is one of the hardest things to do. It goes on SO damned easily yet takes forever to come off.
You're on the right track. I especially like that you're logging your intake.
Lots of folks I know are using FitBit, not me. They seem to like it. I don't know if it or how it helps in weight loss but if it interests you, you might look it up.
Eat sensibly, drink tonnes of water and walk. I think walking is one of the best exercises you can do. Non impact and you get to see the neighbourhood and who knows, you might make some new friends.
Hope to hear from you (2) one of these days soon. Perhaps once fall rolls around we can plan a meetup.
best to you and Jen.

(11,915 posts)It's a rough journey, but you are doing it!!! Getting over that triple digit hurdle is really a BFD!
I'm on the journey with you, but seem to be in a holding pattern right now with stress, work, kids, etc. Just can't seem to get back into the exercise component, and that's such a key to the whole thing. Hope to get back on track over the next week or so.
Baby steps -- that's what the say!

Congratulations

(10,418 posts)From what I can gather, sometimes on the journey you have to go into a holding pattern. Partly to give your body time to adjust and partly to set your mind at ease. But get back to it once you feel better.

(11,843 posts)A couple years ago, I was idly paging through a high school year book and saw a picture of 4 people. I instantly recognized Shawn, Kelly and Ann and almost had to look to the caption before realizing that the other skinny guy was me.

(1,035 posts)I had to lose 105. I've lost 75. Now I have 30 left to go so I'm breaking it down to 5 pound goals. I hope you meet your weight loss goals.
