Meet Sophia Pinto: the 21st century's standard-issue, all-American perfect 10.
The 5-foot-5 Minnesota native -- a sly, funny, 22-year-old natural blonde who spends every summer bikini-clad on the shores of Lake Minnetonka -- works out five days a week. Her slim waist and megawatt smile hearken back to the polyvinyl glamour of the original Barbie doll.
In fact, if Mattel were to redesign Barbie based on the new millennium's ideal woman, she would likely resemble Pinto. Healthy, athletic, alluring, and smart (Pinto will graduate early this month from Northwestern University), she's both a role model and a sex symbol.
And if you were to undress Pinto, you'd find she embodies yet another trademark characteristic of the plastic glamour girl-turned-careerwoman: Like Barbie, Pinto has no pubic hair.
Every four to five weeks, the East Asian Studies major undergoes a cosmetic procedure known as a Brazilian wax. An esthetician pours wax heated to 140° F (roughly the temperature of a steak fresh off the grill) onto her labia and spreads it like butter on bread. Half a minute later, she swiftly peels away the hardened wax -- and with it, a full crop of pubic hair, freshly ripped from the follicles.

(110,159 posts)This week's fashion tip takes a look at how you should look under your clothes as it deals with the subject men's body hair. AskMen has received loads of e-mail regarding whether it is appropriate for men to remove their body hair partially or completely; under the arms, on the chest and even in the genital area.
*
armpits
Grooming armpits will undoubtedly improve personal hygiene as bushy underarms can generate extra heat and will most often result in heavier perspiration. For aerodynamic purposes, many athletes remove underarm hair completely. The idea is simple; your armpits will breathe easier and less anti-perspirant or deodorant is required.
*
chest and back
Back hair and chest hair should also be maintained as they become too long and too dense. When body hair grows too long it can be troublesome and get tangled in clothing or even in zippers which can spawn painful reactions (just like when removing a Band-aid). Just as with underarm hair, the thicker it grows, the more heat it produces and the faster body odor starts to develop. A quick and simple trim of chest and back hair is a quick and easy solution.
*
genitals
Trimming your genital area will profit your personal hygiene, your appearance and it may even spice up your sex life. The hygiene factor is the same as with the above mentioned body parts; the less hair is present, the less risk you have of overheating or sweating excessively. As for aesthetics and the quality of your sex life, chances are that you and your partner are the only ones who will see the difference. To prove my point on how it might improve your sex life just ask yourself one question: do you prefer when your partner's genital area is groomed or when it is unkempt and hairy?

I didn't like the look - at first I was like...what's so weird about...oohhh.
trimming is one thing. totally bare is something else entirely and not attractive for a male to me, but the pictures were on a site for guys.

(20,176 posts)never really quit. Not to the skin but a #2 on the trimmers is plenty short.
Someday I'm irradiating the SOBs with an argon laser.

(28,784 posts)I've seen that for other body hair but didn't know it went into the underoos.
females where I live have been doing this since at least 1998. not necessarily always a full brazillian tho.
I'm bad about forecasting trends. I said, at about that same time, that tats were passe. lol.

(60,212 posts)but unless I'm going somewhere, I don't shave the pits.
Something about shaving them throws off the pH, and the perspiration and BO is actually way worse.
Don't ask me to explain it; I do not understand.

I was going to post in GD about ARPAIO's being zapped by the DoJ but saw you had done it in LBN, so I just piggybacked off of your links for a GD post. Thanks!1
Well, while I'm here, might as well spout off about the topic at hand: The fur in certain places acts as an anti-chafing agent, reducing annoying friction. Also insulation. Maybe some trimming, but not scorched earth?!1

(18,497 posts)Keep it trimmed and neat is one thing. But torture every few weeks.
uh...no.
I'll think about having my pube hairs yanked out by the roots two minutes after my boyfriend does.
Chalk that up to the 12:63 on Feb 30.
