The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThe college adjustment seems to be going well for
both me and my youngest.
I received one text inquiring about laundry tips and one text asking if any nearby restaurants would deliver a blooming onion.
Walking by her empty bedroom has been hard, and the house is too damn quiet, but Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

(16,459 posts)My youngest left for his sophomore year a couple of weeks ago. At least he gets a week off in October when I'm flying him home. He'll spend TG with a classmate's family in Milwaukee. I miss that kid.

(28,394 posts)This is such an exciting time for her. And you will learn to love the quiet!
When she comes home with a huge bag of dirty laundry, you will just "grin and bear it!"
She wears a lot of line dry clothing. It will probably take me a week to get it all done for her.

(7,906 posts)My mom used to do that to me. When I left, I was 2 hours away, she would call me and say, "K, I heard sirens, are you ok?"
And my mom actually did have the police waiting for me once. I took a road trip to visit my sister. My car broke down so I was late arriving there. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot an officer asked "are you K?" "Please call your mother, she is very worried."
