The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI was in a restaurant when an Amber Alert warning went out to everyone's cell phone...
Except that my phone didn't go off because I had turned off the Amber Alert notification unlike everyone else in the restaurant.
I'm King Schmuck of the Universe.
Got a story that can outdo that one, share it and vie for the title of King Schmuck of the Universe.

(34,137 posts)I HATE those. First off, I am seldom anywhere where there are children. Second, the alerts come while I am at home where there are and will be no children. Third, it always gets my adrenaline up because I think it's a weather alert for a tornado or something. Fourth, the Amber Alerts are for the entire state, not just my area.
Oh - the final thing that pisses me off is that there is no way to look up information on the Amber Alert so I can see if it might be my area, what child is missing, where they might be, or any description of what to watch for even if I were out to look for a kidnapped child!
