Daily Holidays September 25

National Psychotherapy Day If you tell someone that you are celebrating Psychotherapy Day they will probably say ‘you need your head examined’ or some other joking remark, or maybe they will say that people who can afford psychotherapy don’t need a special day. Psychotherapy Day was founded in 2012 by a group of professionals and students and is designed to combat misconceptions and raise awareness of the vital work that is done by therapists in helping the one in four people who suffer from mental illness as well as those with emotional problems. The colour turquoise is worn to show support for Psychotherapy Day and can be combined with their logo of a turquoise counselling chair on a black background. It is an ideal time to talk, write, read or blog about psychotherapy in order to break down stigmas and worries, to volunteer or donate to community mental health centres and to share psychotherapy research.https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/psychotherapy-day/

Cooking Day We rush and we scramble trying to make it through our day, rushed for breakfast, rushed for lunch (a half hour? You have to be kidding!) and exhausted for dinner. Who has time to cook anymore? Do we even know how anymore? Cooking Day reminds us that there’s nothing that quite matches the flavor and comfort of a delicious home cooked meal, and that learning how to cook is an important skill to enhance our health and pass tradition on to our friends and family. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/cooking-day/

Comic Book Day In 1837 there came a small, seemingly inconsequential shift in the way stories were told. One Obadiah Oldbuck was drawn into existence as a series of sequential pictures with text captions. It was originally created with the purpose of being a diversion for the creator and his friends, but all too unexpected it became incredibly popular in both the US and France. This is often considered the first comic, and Rodolphe Töpffer is often considered the father of the genre. Comic Book Day honors this man and everything that has come to follow from that first humble publication. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/comic-book-day/

World Pharmacists Day World Pharmacists Day was the brainchild of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), with the council of this organization voting to establish the event in the late 2000s during a conference they staged in Istanbul, Turkey. The aim of the day is to bring attention to pharmacies and the positive benefits they offer when it comes to health and FIP encourages all its members to get involved to make the event a success. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/world-pharmacists-day/

Designating September 25, 2015, as "National Lobster Day".
