To be honest, I think the Civilization games shot their wad with Civ 2. Civ 4 was okay, but increased micromanagement does not a better simulation make.
Just my $0.02. I didn't know about this new one. I will look into it.

Civ 5 was good in its own right and I liked how they unstacked the military units among other changes.
I'm very excited for the next one (just two more days)!
