Star Wars. A $42 BILLION dollar enterprise.

The series has spawned an extensive media franchise—the Star Wars expanded universe—including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books, resulting in significant development of the series's fictional universe. Star Wars also holds a Guinness World Records title for the "Most successful film merchandising franchise." In 2015, the total value of the Star Wars franchise was estimated at USD $41.9 billion, including box-office receipts as well as profits from their video games and DVD sales.[6]

rather quickly - the Force Awakens was only a year ago, and now we get Rogue One. The sequel to TFA is going to be next year at this time, I believe.

Plus there's stand alone movies based on a lot of characters. I think the Han Solo movie is coming after Episode VIII.

I'd divert money for useless things like aircraft carriers, fighter aircraft, and such to space exploration.

Think of how many people it would take to build the USS Enterprise.

At the open when the rebel ship passes over the camera, it was like "WOW! That's HUGE!"

Then the Star Destroyer begins to pass.

And pass

and pass and pass and keeps on going.....till finally the rear end goes past the camera. It was breathtaking.

Been an enthusiast of the franchise ever since
