I've got to work a New Years Eve event.

My usual New Years Eve consists of being sound asleep and relatively sober at midnight. That isn't happening this year. I'll be sober, since the event is alcohol free.

I will be providing a large PA at an outdoor laser show as well as providing power to the laser show. This sounds really cool until you factor in the show starting at 3 pm and repeating until after midnight.

I'll be outdoors for around 14 hours and bored to death. Temperatures will rise from the low thirties into the forties during my stay. I've located my thermal underwear and other warm clothing to wear and I am packing up food and beverage. I just can't seem to finds a good attitude to pack up.

Happy New Year to me.

Grump, Grump, Grump!

Think about all the money you'll make!

Hopefully it's substantial.

Happy New Year to you, to me, to all of us!

Which is why I've got to work it, because we couldn't hire anyone for what we can pay. They pulled the old expand the hours trick after the quote. A non-profit is putting on the show as part of a downtown New Years event, so the original quote is all the money they have. We could be jerks and cut the hours to the quote hours, but we would look bad. No one but us and the non-profit would know the true story. We are first call for the medium to small events in this space and want to stay in that position. Ah, the joys of a small business.

Happy New Year to you too.

PS: I'll get through it fine.

The haze finally hung in there and every thing became 3-d. Wow! Before then it was just patterns on the very large white canopy.
