Just read a rumored spoiler about Alien: Covenant (spoiler alert)

Apparently one of the main characters is Ellen Ripley's mother.

HOW FUCKING STUPID IS THAT?!?!?

For my money, Ridley Scott is a two-trick pony who performed his two tricks 35+ years ago and has never reached that level since then.

I don't necessarily disagree, although I kinda liked Gladiator, historically laughable though it was.

I loathed, detested, was revolted by, and yes, even didn't care for Prometheus. I have no intention of watching the next Alien or Blade Runner unless I hear from many people I trust that it's amazing.

I think (and thought at the time) that it was more hype than substance, but it's a serviceable action flick.

And you're correct about the two tricks! Everything else has been sophomore slump.

Thelma and Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, The Martian are all great films.

Rarely has a movie been so praised by people I trust and yet left me so unmoved. I'm not sure what it is about it.
