National Croissant Day The legend of how the croissant came to be is that in 1683, the Turkish Empire laid siege on Vienna, Austria. The Turks made several attempts to conquer the city by force, but were unsuccessful, so decided to try underground tunnels. The bakers of Vienna, who worked in the basement storerooms, heard the sound of digging and alerted the cities army. For their vigilance, the bakers received high honors and thanks for their assistance in outwitting the Turks. In celebration, they baked their bread in the shape of a crescent moon—the symbol of the Ottoman Empire. After the Turks were defeated, it became custom to serve morning coffee with the crescent-shaped pastry! The legend continues to say that over a hundred years later, Marie Antoinette introduced the pastry to the French who dubbed it a “croissant”. Celebrate Croissant Day in style by eating an abundance of this tasty treat! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/croissant-day/

Blue Monday January can be great month for many different reasons, most of all that a new year has just begun that we can use to fulfill our New Year’s resolutions and achieve any number of other things we’ve decided to put out minds to. However, a cold, cloudy January can also be quite the comedown after the festive holiday season that preceded it, one that was filled with the very scrumptious dishes that caused us to gain the weight we’re endeavoring to lose in the first place. So, to be fair: of all the months of the year, January can be considered the bleakest of them all. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/blue-monday/

Inane Answering Message Day Answering messages tend to be a little dull, ranging from mobile network defaults, to the classic, “Sorry, John’s not here right now… please leave a message after the tone”. Liven things up on Inane Answering Message Day by getting creative, funny or silly with your message! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/inane-answering-message-day/

Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day Bubble Wrap appreciation day is one of the most unnecessary holidays we can imagine! I mean, who needs help appreciating Bubble Wrap? It’s a fantastic and fun toy that was created by accident, solely for the purpose of preserving delicate items through shipping.
