Here is another great one to check out. I first happened to hear it on the radio during a late-night study session in college, and thought, WOW! Who IS this? Unfortunately, I didn't really get to explore this band until several years ago, and have found out what I've been missing for so many years! Depressing, in a way, but happy to get acquainted with them now!

But I never forgot this song in those intervening years! It's a tribute to the great author/humanist/political prisoner and Nobel literature laureate, Aleksandr Solzhenitysn. If you like this, look for the live BBC concert version of it--it's mind-boggling!

Cecilia Bartoli, I misspelled it in the other post... She is a mezzo, which is close to my range though I am also known as a contralto, I have a yuuuuge range. Did ten years of classical vocal performance, not my day job, w/symphonies,
I performed some of the music she was recording back then and learned some of her techniques in my voice classes.

Now I sing nearly anything the other musicians can play, bluegrass and blues are big in my area so I go with that, plenty to choose from.
