1. October Sky

When Homer brings his medal from the national science fair to the coal yard to show his dad, who hadn't been supportive of his passion for rocket science. They squabble and Homer turns to walk away and his dad says, "I hear you met your big hero" (Wernher von Braun) and Homer spins around and tells him that von Braun was great and all, but that he's not his hero. Then it shows his dad pondering that for a second before getting in to the lift to go down into the mine and staring out at Homer with tears in his eyes.

Dammit, that gets me every time. And not just a tear either - full waterworks.

And the last scene at the rocket launch is a killer too.
