Brutus Day There are a couple of references made when we are speaking of a great betrayer. One, of course, took 30 pieces of silver to turn in Jesus Christ of Christian myth. The other, often equally reviled (certainly by Dante) was Marcus Junius Brutus Minor, known to most as Brutus or more simply Et tu Brute? So why dedicate a holiday to this most heinous of individuals? This slayer of Kings and betrayer of friends? Why, my good people, because Brutus Day reminds us that even in this modern age, betrayal, subterfuge, and (metaphorical at least) back-stabbing is still alive and well. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/brutus-day/True Confessions Day

Buzzard's Day The annual celebration of a bird whose circling overhead was a signal to the cowboys of old that a once living creature had met its demise seems strange to say the least. Yet, Buzzard Day is circled on the calendars of many dedicated Ohio residents who, once a year, eagerly scan the skies with binoculars watching for its return. For them this graceful, winged creature with its bald head and red beak signals, not death, but rebirth. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/buzzards-day/

(18,477 posts)... to say nothing of Judas.
Fun fact: there were two Brutuses involved in the murder of Julius, and one of them was Decimus Junius Brutus, who some have speculated was Julius's natural son. Julius said on several occasions that he loved Decimus like a son, and it is thought that if he did say "Et tu, Brute" as the knives went in, he was really addressing Decimus, not Marcus. Decimus was the one who persuaded Julius to attend the Forum that day, and is said to have been the last to stab Julius.
And while we're talking about the Ides and Judas, let's not forget that other conspirator, Gaius Cassius Longinus, who shares with Marcus and Judas residence in the mouth of Dante's Satan.
