1. Glad I found this here - I've been talking about this for months

Interesting piece in the New Yorker a couple of months ago - Our Automated Future. www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/12/19/our-automated-future

2. Back in the '80's I worked as a loan payment teller in a small community bank.

They paid for us to go to college and had 100% match on 401K plans up to 6% of your pay!

One day they put in this thing called an Automated Teller Machine - for after-hours convenience.

We thought "How cute and so modern."

A few years later, no more tellers, no more community bank - banking laws in Oklahoma (R) changed and Bank of Oklahoma swallowed everything.

Community banks became ATM's.

It's like what we did and who we were is being erased - like Stephen King's Langoliers are eating up our past.

I wonder if people really know what is happening. They bought a bunch of lies in 2016 - but lies get exposed, and the truth is not any better.

4. 40 years ago I believed you needed a glowing reference and a recommendation...

whenever you left an employer.

By the 21st Century, it became "Fuck you, asshole" and a finger while walking out the door!

I should have paid attention in 1964!
