April 3 (UPI) -- Two hungry cats gorged themselves on snacks by ringing a pair of call bells to have their owner produce treats.
A Japanase Twitter user shared video of the two well-trained cats as they sat side by side and repeatedly used their paws to ring the shiny, metallic bells in order to receive a treat on the plates placed before them.
The cats tapped their paws on the button to produce a ringing sound and quickly devoured the treats placed in front of them.
The cat on the left side of the screen struggled to get a hold of his second treat and then proceeded to abandon his own bell and began ringing his neighbor's.

(128,150 posts)He got me good on my my right shin and drew blood. I need to work on improving Ralphie's table manners.
Josie, the Siamese cat, shows a lot better table manners, but he has been known to claw through the plastic bag to get his turkey Temptations treats.

(258,780 posts)Felix doesn't draw blood, but it sure is startling! And I do know cats that try to gut the treat package. I guess I don't have it so bad. Felix hasn't learned how to do that, doesn't really use his claws which I consider fortunate. He expects to be waited on...
The only thing is, when I apparently don't give him the right kind, he ignores his dish and goes through the whole thing again.

(128,150 posts)It looks worst in the area around the ankles up to the top of where my socks would normally reach. While I treat the scrapes and bites with alcohol and Neosporin the scars are extensive since I've raised five kittens and taken care of six other cats over the past seven years. I always had ugly legs so the scars don't help.

(3,286 posts)...it doesn't bother me much that cute cat video's get re-posted (even here at DU) even escaping the busybodies that do their best to prevent these redundancies....
However, in this case, I fear that Pavlov's great experiment has been lost to a generation, maybe even on purpose.
A couple of days ago this same video was posted with the title of "Pavlov's cats..."

This thread seems to be missing the whole point of the video. Here's the secret:
You can be conditioned to behave a certain way....
Forget about cute kitties....study 'conditioned responses'.
