If you have a hard time choosing, that's wonderful, sincerely I'd have to say my health. As that old saying goes, you're as young as you feel, and most of the time I feel pretty young. I'm "only" 58 so hopefully that will continue for a long time. If your health is not good, my sincerest sympathies to you If you are in chronic pain, my sincerest sympathies
What about you ?

(17,313 posts)I'm 44 and even though most people at my age are healthy, at this stage more people in your life are aging and losing their independence due to health issues (parents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, a few older friends). You become more aware of how quickly things can go south.
Being prudent in your choices can help stave off some conditions but it often seems to random when a person's health takes a turn for the worse. I mean, you can anticipate some things, i.e. both parents were diabetic and you get diabetes as well, but you can never know for sure when it will strike. Then sometimes a person gets some disease right out of the blue that didn't run in the family. It's just misfortune.
At least we live in a day and age when many conditions that were once fatal or reduced quality of life to a minimum can be treated to a much greater degree due to medical advances, but there's still some awfully shitty cards that people are dealt.

(54,420 posts)My amazing wife and our bi-lingual, bi-cultural daughters. Brains, beauty and common sense (them, not me).
My wife and I have had to deal with some serious health issues (2 rounds of cancer for her, a cardiac near-miss or two for me), but nothing so far that we haven't been able to bounce back from. It'll come, but we're in no rush. In the meantime, we've had quite a run, as well you know, Steve

(17,451 posts)Although it seems trite, life itself and life in those around me, but that is not really an answer to your specific question.
So, what I am MOST grateful for is intellect. The ability to think of abstract things and reason and so forth. Without that ability life would be meaningless.

AND, finally finding the right man that loves the animals as much as I do. Oh--and me too!

(25,464 posts)My health is OK...Got arthritis, fibromyalgia etc, have had it for years, but I'm grateful that I am able to exercise and I do OK. I'm just have a messy house and am sometimes limited in my social activities.
I'm grateful for hair dye because it keeps me looking younger. I'm also grateful for music. I'm grateful for good weather when we have it (usually Nov-May) I'm grateful that we have parks near my house. The parks are new and they have miles of hiking trails...they aren't the most scenic, but they are a form of exercise in the most obese city in the USA. I'm also grateful that I am not obese.
I have a lot to be grateful for.

Also, the ability to move out of South Carolina and closer to my youngest son who just graduated from Berea college. He has some medical issues and I'm thankful that we had enough equity in the house to allowed us to start anew. I'm happy that I'm closer to him and help him if he needs it.
