Now I'm afraid to clean my house for fear it'll make me want to vote for Romney.

(14,374 posts)I love having my home neat. But I am not conservative at all. I feel best in a neat, clean environment.

(19,288 posts)But someone told a story about how her mother had cleaned houses for extra income, back in the day. She had found some distinctions between cleaning the Republican houses vs the Democratic households.
She went on to explain that while the Republican homes appeared more put together on the external surfaces, the drawers, under the beds, and closets, were a wreck.
The Dems, differed in that maybe looked sloppier on cleaning day, the insides of the cupboards and drawers were nearer and better organized.
The take away, if you want to be analytical, about an anticdote, is pubs are all about the show, the pomp and circumstance. Dems are what is important on the inside where nobody see what you do. And that is important because who you are when nobody is looking is the real neat and well organized homosapian.

(390 posts)Conservatives are usually one extreme or the other, liberals are somewhere
in the middle, YMMV.

(8,492 posts)Cons have nothing to do with their spare time, so they clean. I've actually observed this in several of my closest friends. The more intelligent a person, the less likely they are to have a neat home. I binge clean. Most of the time I see it as a complete waste of time. Eventually, I can't find something and I freak out, so I clean the house. It has a huge drawback, however. I'm the opposite of a hoarder. I throw things away. Then I need them. But, I think it's my way of removing the "need" to clean. "Stuff" just gets in the way and needs to be dusted occasionally. Screw that. I'd rather hang out here and learn stuff. I learn many things in the Lounge, like...I dunno...stuff.
