I will probably be less active for a spell as I am losing my housing and Internet until I don't know when. I have an older SUV and my stuff is in storage nearby. I don't have any $ but I am also applying for disability and not working is probably going to be where it's at for a while since that process takes so long. There are places I will be able to get wifi at times... DU is where I get a lot of my news so it will be tough not having access as much as I prefer but that's life.
So if anyone is wondering where I went, that's where I went, I'll chime in when I can, this whole trainwreck is too gripping for me to not seek info several times a day, I can't seem to divert my gaze.

(86,537 posts)It's not an easily made choice, rather painful but in order to survive, that's what seems to be the route to do that. I'll be thinking about you when I reminisce about DU!

All I can say is, poverty sucks. But I have learned to exist within it, my dignity intact.

(34,195 posts)Good luck with that. I recently heard S.S. routinely denies you at first, and you have to get a lawyer.
Someone I know did research on line a couple years ago to find out in what area of the US is easiest to file for S.S. disability and it was Nebraska.
He moved to Omaha, filed, and was accepted in about four months on his first try without a lawyer.
There's also a good, large, men's shelter near downtown Omaha. http://www.sienafrancis.org/
For free WiFi --> libraries, McDonald's, and Denny's.
That said, every case is different.
Wishing you the best and keep us informed.

(86,537 posts)but also that I have a good case. I have PTSD and did an eval today, a few other descriptive terms were added to that... on top of my degenerative arthritis... my bones are disintegrating. I have now put together documentation on these issues.
I am prepared for the turn down, but they've already rejected me in 2012. Just have to go for it and do whatever it takes.

Attorneys here won't take your case unless you've been unemployed for at least a year.

(86,537 posts)I'll be around some but I may be able to use free wifi in town a good part of the time so it might not be all that bad in the long run. I'll know more about it after the weekend when I'm out of this house.
