(23,965 posts)My older son (now 27) loves to play the piano, and it is always a treat to listen to him. Unlike me, he is not hesitant to play in front of people. I only play (my quite limited repertoire) when I am home by myself.

(54,325 posts)Eventually, before my day job made me "get serious," I was doing folk festivals in front of big audiences. The first times are very intimidating, as it can be crushing to your self-confidence if you bomb. However, the rush when they like you and cheer for an encore is better than any drug ever made. I miss it even today, 40 years later.
