.. but we tended to miss the tourist places because my parents didn't have that kind of money. Living rough at times.

Yep, I been to France, but not Paris.

One of my regrets in life is passing up an opportunity to fly to Australia for an indefinite period when I was young, single, and entirely nuts. Sadly, I didn't figure there was any certainty, with my life's saving's of $600, of reliably making it back to California if Australia proved inhospitable to me.

This guy was a little more fearless. Australia wasn't to his liking so he mailed himself home in a box, cash on delivery.

Wapecially this:

"he fears he could easily have frozen to death had he been loaded on to the final leg from Los Angeles to London, which would have flown over the northern ice cap."

Went to both Grand Canyon and Yosemite in fall or early spring/summer when it was cold as hell at night but it warms up fast enough.

Both places we were only one of a few people camping out of hundreds of sites,

There are places in Sequoia National Forest without trees.

There is this bizarre people crafted hot tub from a hot spring there though.

that you didn't ask my permission before posting that picture of me on the beach in Rio! So much for privacy!
