Get Out! movie Spoilers

Just picked it up on DVD. Really enjoyed it. Sort of the GooseBumps for the horror genre based on racial expectations. But this is what I found amusing. I watched it with my "whitey-tighty" husband (his words) and his reaction was comical. He said, "I would have been so out of there the second I felt someone was trying to get in my head."

I had to laugh, because I know that is probably not true. Not the second, anyway. He would probably think of all kinds of civil reasons to avoid confrontation and remain in the house. And I think that is true of most people. They would rather think of a million reasons why they misunderstood or misread the situation before ditching the girlfriend and running out of the house.

So the movie does a great deal of providing food for thought in unexpected ways.

He kept the movie from going off the rails. Not everyone likes hardcore horror and he provided enough light moments for everyone to catch their breath.

In the end, he made the TS fucking A the hero of the show.

I'm glad it ended the way it did because they said there was an alternate ending on the DVD. I had a theory that they make alternate endings because the original ending turned too many people off. So, I surmised that the original movie ended tragically for the protagonist, which is partly the reason why I avoided it when it was on cinema.

I saw the alternative ending. Instead of the buddy saving the main character, the police show up and arrest him. It ends with him in prison because all of the evidence was destroyed in the fire so he could not prove what happened was self defense. It was a much darker ending, but it fit with the movie.
