(22,048 posts)Sure, looks cute now, but at some point instinct will kick in, and the cat is a goner. I'm assuming they got the coyote as a pup, but its always going to be a wild animal. NOT a good idea as a family pet.
Sorry, lost too many barn cats to coyotes.

(26,324 posts)But I wouldn't allow any other small animals or children around the coyote.
Wild animals are not pets. No matter how cute they are.
The video is cute though.

(70,483 posts)It might have been fixed too. But I have never seen or heard of coyote
as a pet before either.
BTW I have had 3 customers lose their small dogs to coyotes ..... in each case
the coyote was waiting for the people to let their little dogs out to go to the
bathroom.

(38,309 posts)... Centuries of farmers and ranchers shooting them on sight has made them invisible.
Outdoor cats and small dogs are not safe. I don't know why people let their cats roam freely, especially at night.
I see coyotes rarely but our dogs (all coyote size and larger) bristle whenever they smell or see them.
Our youngest dog, who lived feral for a time before animal control caught her, has a deep, deep animosity toward coyotes. (She's also terrified of the sound air guns make. She may have been a chicken thief herself.)
When I was a kid the coyotes would regularly grab our chickens, in broad daylight sometimes. Our dogs hated them, and one of our dogs had lost part of her ear to one she'd caught knocking over the trash bin.
I've got a huge amount of respect for coyotes, and I wouldn't shoot them ever, not having chickens, cats, or small dogs, but I respect them as the wild creatures they are.

(22,048 posts)Dragged him right over the fence, and took off with him. We were alerted by the big dogs going nuts, and ran outside. He dropped my doxie then and ran, leaving him with his throat nearly torn out. He spent a week in the vet hospital, but pulled thru. And of course, being a Dachshund, he was still always the first one out the door when a coyote started howling. Tough little guy, and finally died at the ripe old age of 16.
