I just snapped the photo. I actually had a certain DUer in mind when I took it. He flew RF-84s in his younger days, IIRC.

Dad's sitting in his favorite chair, legs crossed tightly against the cruel universe, staring off into space, about to drop a magazine he's read a hundred times.

Mom is cooking a dinner of pasta, weevil maggots, and canned tomato sauce. These past few weeks everyone has been agreeing that maggots taste a lot like shrimp, all wishing silently they'd stocked more pepper in the shelter pantry.

As daughter dutifully sets the dinner table, she holds a large knife menacingly, glancing over at her mother's back...

The perfect suburban family of the post atomic age 'fifties.

(I probably read a similar review on Amazon, better written, and I'd post that if I could find it...)
