snip
Second lady Karen Pence tweeted photos of the family pet, adding, "Rest in peace Oreo. You touched a lot of hearts in your little life." The photos included shots of the Vice President in a tuxedo holding the black-and-white feline, who moved with the family to the vice president's residence on the grounds of the Naval Observatory after the election.
An aide to the vice president said Oreo was 13 years old and was especially endeared to the Pence's youngest daughter, Audrey, who is 23.
In a White House absent of pets and animals, the second family has filled the void with several family pets, including a bunny, Marlon Bundo, which is also black and white and has garnered a national following and even appeared at official White House events.

(115,659 posts)Trump, however, has no pets (and that's a good thing for any potential pets). There's something wrong with people who don't like animals.

You're right about trump. Hate to see what he'd do to an animal in his care
At least the Pences like animals. That is something

(115,659 posts)"President-elect Donald Trump has yet another cabinet member to nominate: first pet.
That role may soon be filled by an adorable 9-week-old goldendoodle (golden retriever/poodle designer hybrid) puppy named Patton, according to The Washington Post.
Lois Pope, a Trump booster from Florida, says she has offered to gift the puppy to Trump, and shes confident the little doodle will canoodle with the next president soon enough. Im sure, she told the Post.
He said, Go over there and show it to Barron, Pope recounts of her Thanksgiving weekend conversation with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. Barron is Trumps 10-year-old son with wife Melania. A big smile came over the boys face, Pope says."

But the puppy never made it to the WH or to Trump Tower (fortunately for the puppy). http://www.inquisitr.com/3899657/barron-trump-not-getting-goldendoodle-puppy-after-all-philanthropist-withdraws-offer-of-a-dog-to-trumps-white-house/
Trump said he was too busy to take care of a dog.
