3. Going to a big holiday bash at the home of some friends.

They really know how to throw a party. Their New Year's Eve party this year was the best I've ever attended.

Looking forward to some fun...

9. They planned games that weren't lame. The music and food were incredible.

And after we saw the New Year in, the hosts passed around miniature hot air balloons to the guests. We wrote a New Year's wish on a card attached to the balloons, lit the candle, watched the balloons inflate, and then sent them sailing out over Commencement Bay.

There were a lot of guests. And a lot of balloons.

Seeing them all take flight and sail away was magical.

Everyone needed it. All of the guests were staunch liberal Democrats. We wished for a do-over...

A classmate of mine from Russia told me that in the Motherland, they all drink Russian Standard. So I've had a couple of bottles of that.

Absolut, Finlandia, Smirnoff, and a couple of others I've forgotten the names of...

I switched from whiskey to vodka because vodka has a lower hangover index.

The darker the spirit, the higher the hangover index. Which is one among many reasons why I quit Jaegermeister after just one night...

I quit drinking 39 years ago, and I haven't had an urge to drink since. However, since Jan.20, I tell friends that I would give my left arm not to be an alcoholic. I need a drink, dammit!
