Those things kill by constriction and she's just big enough for a nice meal.

I don't get people who keep wild animals for pets. You'd think having children would be sufficient experience.

I've seen small ones constrict the arms of big burly snake catchers in Florida.
And they work in tandem with another catcher.

I am not sure that is a good idea as she is small and warm and this snake could get the wrong idea and squeeze her to death. Snakes go by instinct and this setting is an instinct waiting to happen.

8. Someone needs to find a good home for the snake

in a nice, well-maintained reptile zoo, and get the kid a puppy or a kitten - something that won't be tempted to eat her.

I think it's good that the child is being raised not to hate or fear snakes, but such a close relationship is not a very sensible idea.

The parent(s) or snake handler are present and nearby and apparently know what they are doing. The snake looks very relaxed and ready for his afternoon nap. It is still an unnerving site.

10. I'd teach a child about snakes, even supervised hands on teaching, but I wouldn't

allow my full grown (and large) python or boa any cuddle time with my child.

And it would all depend on the age - and size - of the child. (and snake)

Also, with the child's permission. If the child doesn't want to learn about snakes, I would never force the issue. That would be cruel to subject a child already afraid of snakes to snakes.


I wouldn't want a child to grow up with a phobia of snakes - but instead with an awareness and respect for snakes and how deadly some snakes can be.

Always handle with care. Both your child - especially...and your snake.
