This is mine, for very personal reasons, but lots of really great songs from this year:

(60,026 posts)Just looked through top 100 albums of 1982...nothing really stood out for me as far as really popular stuff - so I went for the fringe (and a band that I've loved for years - though Garlands is not at all their best stuff)
this is pretty out there, strange stuff (just like my music tastes - still, at 61!)

(16,883 posts)My wife and I were recently discussing heartbreaking song lyrics and how the songwriter writing the lyrics must have been channeling legitimate pain when composing the songs...this was one we discussed. How many of us have been in that situation? You take the one you love the most for granted and when they're gone, you long for one last chance to prove your love...knowing that it will never happen....

(4,211 posts)The 80s get slagged a lot but the music really was great (as someone that was there--i turned 16 in 82). I think it's hard to overstate the marriage of music and video in that era. Most 80s songs I hear on Sirius (or in grocery stores!) are accompanied in my head by the video of the song that's playing.
