have played very few times. Even IF you hear or read the next day that no one has won the jackpot DO NOT throw your ticket in the trash. There are many "lesser" prizes you might have won--including a $1 million $$$ prize if you have five correct numbers but not the correct Powerball number. Check your numbers on-line,or many stores have smaller scanners where you can do it yourself. Personally,I wouldn't hand over a ticket to a clerk to have them check for a winner.

But....some might think who would trash a ticket without checking first?? Ummm...lots of people!! Right now in the Kansas lottery we have FIVE unclaimed PB tickets who won $50,000. Looking at the winning dates,four of the five will probably never be claimed. A year ago there was a $1M winning PB ticket in western Kansas that was never claimed.

5. Yepper....I doubt only one person wins with this kind of volume...

But you never know. I rarely play PB,I kind of like Hot Lotto which comes with taxes paid on the jackpot and no ridiculous "annuity" amount which no one ever chooses. The EXACT amount of the jackpot is what the winner will receive.
