Years ago I was standing on the front porch with my son watching distant lightening when a bolt hit the power pole directly across the street from us. Scared the ever loving crap out of us. We went back inside and stayed there!

But... I hate the loud beeps to cover swear words with a passion. If they have to protect innocent ears, couldn't they just blank out the sound instead of covering it with a worse one?

The pole exploded, and the concussion blew me off my feet and threw me twenty feet.

Was grounded by the tires..What a sight... No harm done..everything worked ok..I had to get off the highway and have a cup of coffee and a piece of pie before I continued that evenings journey.....very strange trip..the day earlier in Reno, I hit a jackpot on a dime slot machine and got $100.00...(that was a lot then)...SO, I hit the jackpot twice and can still tell the story...

while i was a kid in the backseat of our car. Dad was driving. He and mom told me that being in a vehicle was one of the safest places you could be in such conditions. Your story bears it out.
