(112,162 posts)1. It looks like you still need a cell phone network or wi-fi connection.
Just experiencing Harvey, I will tell you that cell phone service in my area went down on a Thursday night and stayed down through Saturday afternoon. The three cell phone towers in my area were turned off while they conducted search and rescue. I thought that having the wi-fi connection would solve the problem, but the CSR said that if the phone network goes then the wi-fi goes with it.
